Product Description

Lisa Hilton's beautiful melodies, catchy beats and expressive piano style have captured the attention of music lovers everywhere. Her timeless instrumental music appeals to listeners of all ages, and is currently being played on radio both in the US and abroad, and continues to earn awards, honors, and outstanding reviews. A passionate pianist and a prolific composer, Hilton grew up in Southern California in a very musical family, teaching herself to play the piano about six and composing her fist simple songs at seven. She began the study of classical and modern piano literature at eight. As a teen she began playing Standards and writing blues riffs, but quit the piano completely when she became disillusioned with her education in classical music. After studying art and photography in college, she became an art director, designing for clients like CBS and Twentieth Century Fox, and writing and art directing a successful children's book; never playing the piano for many years. She credits producer/composer David Foster for reigniting her long lost love in music again. 'Because I left the piano for so many years', Hilton comments, 'I am now so passionate about playing and composing: it is like once again finding my 'true' love'. Due to the difficulties with her own music education, Hilton is now extremely committed to music programs for children and teens, especially for those that are blind or visually impaired, such as programs at Perkins School for the Blind in Waterton, Massachusetts near Boston. Featuring Bobby Militello on sax, Reggie McBride on bass and Johnny Friday on drums. As elegant and refined a collection as you'll hear anywhere... Ms. Hilton's own playing, subtle, enchanting, and always impeccable." Ted Hasiuk, Cafe Jazz/Canada "Sinfully, sultry mix of originals and standards... there are nothing but encores." Karl Stober, ejazz news.

About the Artist

Growing up in Southern California in a very musical family, Hilton taught herself to play the piano and compose at about six, beginning the study of classical and modern piano literature at eight years. As a teen, she began playing Standards and writing blues riffs, but quit the piano completely when she became disillusioned with classical music. Several years ago her passion for composing and the piano were reignited, and Midnight In Manhattan is her eighth release of primarily original music. "Because I left the paino for such a long time", Hilton recalls, "it was like finding once again my 'true' love. Now I am so passionate about playing and composing - it is such a joy!" Once again eighteen time Grammy winning engineer/producer Al Schmitt, recorded and mixed this release.
